Driving around the landfill, on the right side of the road - new technology and taps. On the left, none (old technology). Driving around the landfill, test pipes along the road. Driving around the landfill, gas line, 24-inches total, for methane capturing and transfer.

Leachate pond, on the far side of the landfill away from the methane towers. Leachate pond, on the far side of the landfill away from the methane towers. My tour guide, Wally Grant, who has given this tour many times to many people of all ages. He;s worked there since 1993 and his father worked there before him. As he said, "It's in the family."
Heading to the landfill neighbors - the Cedar Grove Composting site. Getting lost at the Cedar Grove landfill but finding some interesting things - like this aeration pond. My car is parked by a Willy Wonka-style tube, which appears to be churning out heaps of compost. The smell was somewhat overwhelming - like warm beer, three weeks after being set in the sun.
