Up the road, from the sorting facility and on the way to the working face of the landfill, the appliance drop-off site. Touring the landfill and old cells, we come across a leachate handling system.
View of an old landfill. The compactor - a might machine that goes for a pretty penny! The active face of the landfill. This is what your trash looks like, when it is taken from your curbside pick-up can or your community drop-off site.
Methane handling at landfills is a necessary business. Composting, in its infancy. Used batteries, collecting like rabbits.
Used batteries are dropped off in a variety of ways - this case is an outside drop-off, just outside the landfill's office. A sharps-handling kiosk. Peeking inside the sharps-handling kiosk.
Kristin displaying a typical sharps container, which can be dropped of at any of the several sharps drop-off kiosks in the county. This one happens to be at the landfill. Kristin displaying fluorescent lights which were dropped off at the small building at the entrance, designated for such items. Next to the fluorescent lights, there's the used motor oil.
