Joe Garbarino,at Marin Sanitary Services, a man with a mission and a nice smile to go with it! One more shot of Joe and me, in front of the HDPE (or is it LDPE) bottles all baled up for shipment (to China). A quick shot of a video shot being taken, at the Marin Sanitary Services center.
A truck, heading out, getting weighed. The dis-assembly line. . . guys sorting out different types of plastic and other materials - saving them from going to the landfill (and sending it to China). If you didn't already guess it - paper processing conveyor. A lot of it comes preshredded (security) but it all gets baled.
A view from the foreman's counter - this is where the assembly of conveyors is managed. Camera's monitor the whole operation, to make sure things keep moving (and that people don't get hurt). You can see us standing in the right-middle pane. . . but we're very, very small. The slosh pit - where the non-captured materials end up going, before getting hauled to the landfill.
One more load being delivered, to the pit. Another shot of a video shot being taken, at the pit. Marin Sanitary Services is a Gold Partner of the California Product Stewardship Program. www.calpsc.org
Joe is not your average Joe - just check out his plates! "UZITAGN" - gotta love a guy with passion! Post-interview with Heidi Sanborn, the Executive Director of the California Product Stewardship Program - www.calpsc.org Group photo - excluding Bruce Olszewski - at the California Resource Recovery Association education/certification program being held at San Jose State University.
